WHY FLORISTRY?

This course is for those already in the floral industry wishing to build on existing expertise from previous study and work experience. A Certificate IV in Floristry extends your skills as a florist, manager, and retailer to improve your techniques in planning, designing, and creating complex floral designs. Florists at this level work independently and often have supervisory and planning responsibilities.
Suited to owners/managers of a floristry outlet with responsibility in all aspects of the operation of a small business. This is your opportunity to build on expertise you’ve acquired through previous study and work experience.
This qualification level is valuable if you want to advance your career in the industry you already work in. A Certificate IV in Floristry will help you develop and further your skills and confidence in your floristry career.

FOR A SUCCESSFUL FLORISTRY CAREER

Creativity and a love of flowers are the keys to a career in floristry.
Your floristry skills will be put to use to celebrate some of your customers’ most important life experiences.
The Certificate IV course provides a foundation of competencies across a range of floristry skills. You will learn creative skills, design and colour theory, as well as practical advanced construction skills and techniques for a wide range of arrangements suitable for weddings, corporate, special occasions and event staging.

WHAT DOES THIS COURSE INVOLVE?

A Certificate IV provides in-depth and substantial knowledge of floral construction techniques, design elements, colour theory and principles. This course will improve and extend your event planning and oversight abilities. Many Certificate IV graduates specialise in weddings, studio and corporate work.
As part of your Certificate IV qualification, you will be required to develop a floristry business plan; understand budget and costing; research the floral industry; plan an event; and complete written and practical assessments.
Our tutors bring the passion and experience to teach you advanced floristry skills. This is your chance to showcase your talent by creating a variety of large-scale floral designs and displays. Let your creative imagination go into overdrive, stretch your event planning skills, and extend your portfolio.
Our professional and experienced teachers will assist you in improving your event planning and oversight abilities to maximise results with flowers and foliage, with an emphasis on fine details.
This certificate will equip owners/managers of a floristry business to create advanced floristry designs and take their place as a leader in the florist industry. You will extend your ability to create complex designs and organise flowers for events with the responsibility for the managerial and financial operations of a small business.

Study Option
PART TIME STUDY OPTION AVAILABLE

Working at your own pace, you will have up to one year to complete the course.

You will need to attend 2x one-week blocks for the practical components of the course, and complete theory assessments in your own time with assistance and guidance from our tutors.

  • Class structures, times and teaching days may change without notice allowing students to study at home.

The Flower School course fees cover the cost of your training, manuals, workbooks, one pair of scissors, towel, sundries as well as our industry tour guides.  The Flower School offers affordable payment plans.

If you have completed floristry study at another institution or have experience working as a florist, you may be eligible for exemption for some, or all, units of competency of this qualification. Please contact us via email or phone for more information regarding the RPL process and to find out if you are eligible.

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who have:

  • achieved the Certificate III in Floristry via an Australian Apprenticeship Pathway; OR
  • demonstrated floristry industry experience in applying the skills and knowledge in the Certificate III in Floristry.

This is achieved via:

  • providing a portfolio of evidence outlining how the skills and knowledge gained in the Certificate III in Floristry have been applied in an industry context; OR
  • 12 months post qualification industry experience.
