This course is for those already in the floral industry wishing to build on existing expertise from previous study and work experience. A Certificate IV in Floristry extends your skills as a florist, manager, and retailer to improve your techniques in planning, designing, and creating complex floral designs. Florists at this level work independently and often have supervisory and planning responsibilities.

The Certificate IV course provides a foundation of competencies across a range of floristry skills. What does this course involve?
A Certificate IV provides in-depth and substantial knowledge of floral construction techniques, design elements, colour theory and principles. This course will improve and extend your event planning and oversight abilities. Many Certificate IV graduates specialise in weddings, studio and corporate work.
As part of your Certificate IV qualification, you will be required to develop a floristry business plan; understand budget and costing; research the floral industry; plan an event; and complete written and practical assessments.

The Flower School is very hands-on.
Each week you will create a variety of designs under the guidance of our talented team of trainers, with years of commercial, retail, and bridal experience.
The Flower School staff are passionate and experienced professionals who will teach you the skills to become a fully qualified florist.
We will be attending flower markets, visit flower growers and other key industry groups on field trips. A student card will be issued so flowers can be purchased at wholesale price.
What employment opportunities will I have?
Upon completion of this course, you will be eligible for employment as a florist shop manager. You will have the skills to supervise a small florist business and perform the relevant planning and evaluation of work. You will have the option of specialising in event planning, retail management, hospitality functions, or related corporate work. Opportunities for florist shop managers exist in a variety of areas including traditional retail, corporate, event planning, hospitality, and other related fields.
Accreditation and entry requirements
This course is nationally accredited, innovative, and focused on developing your skills as a florist. Once you have been deemed competent in all units you will be awarded SFL40115 Certificate IV in Floristry.
To enrol, you must have achieved Certificate III in Floristry and provide a portfolio of evidence with 12 months post qualification industry experience.
Individuals will have substantial depth of knowledge of construction techniques, and floristry design elements and principles.
Part time study option available
Working at your own pace, you will have up to one year to complete the course.
You will need to attend 2x one-week blocks for the practical components of the course, and complete theory assessments in your own time with assistance and guidance from our tutors.

The Flower School course fees cover the cost of your training, manuals, workbooks, one pair of scissors, towel, sundries as well as our industry tour guides. The Flower School offers affordable payment plans.

Purchase of fresh flowers: For each one-week block you will need to allow approximately $350-$400 for purchase of flowers and foliage.
A pair of complimentary floristry scissors and small towel are supplied free of charge to each student upon enrolment (these are yours to keep).

Entry to this qualification is open to individuals who have:
- achieved the Certificate III in Floristry via an Australian Apprenticeship Pathway; OR
- demonstrated floristry industry experience in applying the skills and knowledge in the Certificate III in Floristry.
This is achieved via:
- providing a portfolio of evidence outlining how the skills and knowledge gained in the Certificate III in Floristry have been applied in an industry context; OR
- 12 months post qualification industry experience.
