SFL20115 Certificate II in Floristry (Assistant)
SFL30115 Certificate III in Floristry
SFL40115 Certificate IV in Floristry
These courses are open to the general public but in particular to those wishing a career in floristry. These certificate courses follow on from each other and need to be completed consecutively or demonstrate equivalent skills.
Cert II and Cert III are designed to take 9 & 12 weeks, Cert IV 8 weeks. As a Registered Training Organisation we meet the National Training Assessment Criteria so at the end of 12 weeks you will receive a National Recognised Fully Accredited Certificate in Floristry.
This is a full time Course. Class attendance will be 4 days a week: Monday -Thursday from 9 -2.30 (with ½ hr for lunch).
We will have a 2 week block break during the course to refresh your skills and absorb what you have learnt, practise and maybe gain some experience in the industry.
HOW TO GET HERE
Our current training venue is in Hamilton Brisbane, 10 mins north of the CBD. We are a 5 minute walk from Doomben Train Station and Toombul Bus route 300 and 301, from Racecourse Road 7 mins a with a 10min walk from the City Cat at Bretts Wharf.
Classes are conducted in a large open plan professional studio with french doors and windows opening to lovely garden views, lots of natural light, fully air-conditioned and also with ceiling fans and river breezes. The perfect place to learn to study.
CLASS ROOM LESSONS
Face-to-face classroom presentations will be combined by trainer demonstrations, group discussions, class excursions, floristry in theory, assignments and work books to take home and complete, trips to the flower markets, and loads of hands on practical tasks. You will be mentored by a trainer that has over 25+ years of experience in the Floristry Industry and more than 20 years of practical teaching experience. Classes are limited to 20 so that we can give you a more personal experience with individual attention. We aim to teach in a relaxed and friendly way, with lovely surroundings but be prepared to work as we have stream lined this course down from 6 months to 10 weeks.
HOW TO ENROL
There are no pre-requisites for Certificate II in Floristry (Assistant).
Applicants to the course may be interviewed to determine your experience and training needs.

Applicants are required to have effective language, communication and interpersonal skills.

Assessment is competency based. Assessment will be a continual ongoing process over the duration of the course. This will be based on the Trainers observations, the Goverments Assessment criteria, your assignments, your written work books, practical floristry skills. As participants gain experience, more advanced floristry techniques will be addressed in the course. There will also be short exams and practical demonstrations of floristry skills set over the length of the course. When you have completed all the course work and assessments, you will be awarded the Course Certificate for your achievements.
RECOGNITION OF PRIOR LEARNING
Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a nationally recognised process which helps you gain credit towards a certificate based on the skills and experience you have picked up from:
- previous learning
- work or industry experience (paid or unpaid)
- partially completed studies.
Your experience is matched to current industry qualifications so if you have experience in retail sales and in floral design you can gain credit towards or even recognition for a full qualification.

All fees and charges will be outlined to students before enrolment for courses
offered by The Flower School Pty Ltd. Should The Flower School Pty Ltd Flowers cancel any course, participants are entitled to a full refund or the option to transfer funds to a future course. An initial non-refundable enrolment fee applies to all courses, payable two weeks before course commencement. No refund is available to participants who leave before finalising the course or unit of competency unless they can provide a medical certificate or show extreme personal hardship. In that case, fees may be refunded on a pro-rata basis.
