With flowers anything is possible

The ordinary can become extraordinary! The occasion not just a date in the diary, but an event that will be a talking point and a fond memory. Our workshops are designed to be fun and creative. Why not come with a group of friends? Your floral creations are yours to take home.

This session will allow your group to let down their hair, be a bit silly and adorn themselves with beautiful flower crowns. Our professional florists will guide your group through the process of choosing flowers and constructing a fully-wired floral headpiece. The flower crown session engenders a warm atmosphere of relaxation and creativity in a non-competitive environment. Each team member will come away with a new skill, a beautiful flower crown, and a sense of achievement.

Morning tea, afternoon tea, champagne teas or other catering can be arranged. Costs start at $65 per person, minimum of 8 guests.

“Nature tops the list of potent tranquilisers and stress reducers. The mere sound of moving water has been shown to lower blood pressure” – Patch Adams. There is nothing more soothing and positive than exposure to nature, as many studies have shown. The Flower School has designed non-confrontational team-building exercises that will build resilience, encourage enthusiasm, provide stress relief, and improve communication in a relaxed atmosphere. Our calming flower-based activities will take your team out of the workplace and into an atmosphere of fun, collaboration, and creativity. All team-building days include a floral activity, and all flowers and materials. Your team will finish the workshop with a sense of achievement, tranquillity, and connection. We offer two themes - Flower Crowns or Posies. Alternatively, we can discuss your team’s needs and tailor activities designed for a positive team-building experience. Morning or afternoon tea, or special catering can be arranged upon request.

…or anything else you can dream of!

We create the ambience that will bring your whole event together, no matter how large or small. Our creative team can design and decorate any venue for any occasion – whether it’s a themed corporate affair, a community event, or an intimate dinner party.

Let our team bring the venue to life with colour, flair and imagination. We can adapt to your location and your artistic vision. The ordinary can become extraordinary, the occasion not just a date in the diary but an event that will become a talking point and a fond memory. We would be only too pleased to show you our portfolio of events. From flower crowns at EKKA, archways for Melbourne cup and many more.

From commissions for royalty: Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s 40th Ruby Anniversary and Princess Diana’s 30th Birthday; to elaborate window displays for Harrods of London and Bergdolf Goodman New York. With flowers anything is possible!

FLOWER CROWNS at EKKA drew in the crowds of all ages! Extreme hard work , pumping out over 500 per day – Oh what fun had by all! It was such a pleasure to see our flower crowns everyday throughout Ekka.

    EKKA 2017

In 2017, The Flower School once again celebrated a fantastic 10 days of floral competitions at the “Ekka” within the new Flower and Garden Exhibition hosted in the old museum precinct. That year the museum celebrated 140 years.

HM Queen Elizabeth II and HRH Duke of Edinburgh

Their 40th Anniversary was held in The Claridge's Hotel in London, in 1987. “The red carpet was ready to be rolled out. We had only an hour spare at the front of the hotel to clear our rubbish … only to find the van had been wheel clamped around the corner! Again, no photos, but I can tell you the 40th Anniversary means Ruby so there was a spectacular display of rich red flowers with greenery and lots of sparkling lights.``

HARRODS London – Window Dressing/Food Hall

In the late 80s, Amanda freelanced for Kenneth Turner (who flew her to NY for Bergdorf Goodman Christmas windows and store opening). “We had a great time in Harrods, creating permanent fruit & vegetable displays and styling the windows”. In 2004, Kenneth Turner was selected as the exclusive florist in Harrods, fully reinforcing Kenneth Turner as an authority in floral decoration. Kenneth Turner became one of the world’s leaders in the design and development of fresh, dried and preserved flowers and their arrangements.

    Bergdorf Goodman New York

Amanda was flown to New York especially to arrange Christmas windows for Bergdorf Goodman in 1987, and was so highly regarded in her field, that she obtained many floristry commissions on her excellent reputation. “It is a tradition that the Christmas displays go up overnight, and it was so cold on 5th Avenue, the chill factor was -12 degrees”.

    EKKA 2017

In 2017, The Flower School once again celebrated a fantastic 10 days of floral competitions at the “Ekka” within the new Flower and Garden Exhibition hosted in the old museum precinct. That year the museum celebrated 140 years.

The competitions, hosted by The Flower School, were open to professional florists and floristry students studying Certificate II, III and IV in Floristry.

A record number of 35 professional florists competed within the 5 competitions held.
Beautiful displays, competitions, workshops, flower crowns, industry education on flowers and plants grown in Queensland were viewed by all attending.

Much enjoyment and laughter was had this year organising a beard competition. (See photo above) Director of The Flower School, Amanda Meads and a tutor decorating Australia’s “gardening guru” Costa on the community stage of the Ekka.

The Flower School once again hosted the flower crown activity workshop and we so enjoyed seeing many of you return from the previous year. Thank you to all our sponsors and volunteers who helped, laughed and brought your nimble fingers to make over 5000 flower crowns over the 10 days.
